ABOUT “THE GODDESS OF ASIA MINOR”
“Asia Minor” is the ancient name of my country region. Anatolia or Asia Minor is a region of Western Asia, comprising most of the modern Republic of Turkey. It is a geographic region bounded by the Black Sea to the north, the Caucasus to the northeast, the Aegean Sea to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and the Iranian plateau to the east and southeast.
And it has a “Great Mother Goddess” nearly since 6000 B.C. The Goddess known as Kybele, as the Great Mother, is one of the most intriguing figures in the religious life of the ancient Asia Minor world. Evidence for human devotion to this goddess extends from the early sixth millenium B.C., to the final days of paganism in the Roman Empire in the fifth century C.E.
We encounter the Mother Goddess most vividly in the poetry, hymns, and religious monuments of ancient Rome, but her original home was Anatolia-Turkei (Ancient Aisa Minor).
Her most characteristic and enduring features were formed in Anatolia. From there, her worship was widely diffused, attracting an enormous number of followers and covering the full geographical span of the Mediterranean cultural sphere, in Europe, western Asia, and North Africa.
The long life of her cult and the literally thousands of offerings to the Mother demonstrate clearly that her worship was deeply felt.
With this brief instructions about The Asia Minor Region and The Mother Goddess “Kybele” finally I wish a create a new contemporary Goddess with the reference of others. And you can see also several images about ancient goddess below the page.
