Sculptural works
I have gathered my public, studio and conceptual sculpture series into three categories. For each work, you can see its material, its scale and the relationship it builds with the place it inhabits.
Three categories
Public & Monumental Sculptures, Indoor & Studio Works, and Conceptual Projects / Designs.
Public & Monumental Sculptures
Monumental works that engage directly with the urban and natural environment. Siting, height and viewpoint are rethought for every installation.
Category 01
This category brings together open-air installations, stone and metal surfaces that change with the daylight, and the quiet bonds formed with the street. Each work is read together with the space around it.
Category 02
Indoor & Studio Works
Studio works and series exploring material texture and scale. Experiments in bronze, stone and steel come together in this group.
Conceptual Projects / Designs
Models, drawings and design studies that lay the groundwork for future spatial works. The relationship between form and void is the starting point of these projects.
Category 03
The conceptual works make no claim to a fixed installation; they are read as a ground for thought, making visible the link between the studio works and the public works.
Public Space
Lyrical Message
Stainless steel · 300×300×300 cm · 2022 · Olympic Park, Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, China
One of 15 international sculptures selected for the Olympic Park of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Mirror-polished parallel steel slices reflect the sky and their surroundings, rebuilding the sculpture from every viewpoint; the work was conceived as a lyrical message that carries form, movement and rhythm together.
Lyrical Composition I
Matte sandblasted stainless steel · 250×250×250 cm · 2021 · Lucien Arkas Park, Bayraklı, İzmir
Rising in front of the high-rises of İzmir’s new city centre, the sculpture draws light and the cityscape into itself through the gaps between its layered steel plates. As the viewer walks around it, its shifting surfaces hold the work in continuous dialogue with the city.
Lyrical Movement
Corten steel · 500×500×190 cm · 2023 · Harbin International Floating Sculpture Park, China
Standing on a platform on the water, the disc-shaped sculpture frames the sky and the water through the oval void at its centre. Its corten surface, which changes over time, makes it a public work that lives with its natural surroundings and transforms with the seasons.
Gallery Works
Oblivion
Chrome-nickel · 92×35×30 cm · 2015
Stacked, layered chrome-nickel plates rise in a vertical rhythm, giving form to the tension between memory and forgetting. The intervals between the plates allow light to seep into the sculpture.
Lyrical Message II
Aluminium · 93×87×85 cm · 2015
Made of parallel aluminium slices, this dome-shaped sculpture is a gallery-scale interpretation of the artist’s “Lyrical Message” series. The gaps between the slices create a sense of lightness and vibration that changes as the viewer moves.
Dream Object
Chrome-nickel · H. 120 cm, 120×120 cm · 5th International Beijing Art Biennale, 2012
Set on wheels, the cubic form brings static geometry together with the possibility of movement. Its polished chrome-nickel surfaces reflect their surroundings, carrying the object to a place somewhere between reality and dream.
