Sunrise in the East
Sunrise in the East is a site-specific public artwork created by AaRT and artist İlker Yardımcı for Poly Development’s OPUS ONE, on the Huangpu River in Shanghai. It takes its cue from the sunrise over the Huangpu and the Eastern symbolism of “sunrise”: renewal, hope and the radiance of an era. Its transparent structure and mirrored stainless-steel surface keep changing with the angle of sunlight, the reflections on the river, the weather and the passage of time. Bringing art, architecture and nature together, it becomes a public landmark connecting the city and its people.
